We are seeking suitable candidates to fill the following position: –
Job Title: FITTER MACHINIST (1 positions)
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Job purpose:
Responsible for setting up and adjusting machine tools and work pieces to ensure proper alignment and precision.
Specific Tasks:
- Reading Blueprints: Interpreting technical drawings, review samples, or written instructions to understand the specifications of the part to be machined.
- Operating Machinery: Plan the method and sequence of operations; using various machining tools to cut, shape, and finish metal and other materials according to specified dimensions.
- Setting Up Machines: Preparing and setting up machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines and grinders, heat treatment furnace including making adjustments to achieve precise measurements and tolerances.
- Measuring and Inspecting: Performing precise measurements using tools such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges to ensure accuracy and quality of the finished parts.
- Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving issues related to the machining process, such as tool wear, material defects, or deviations from specifications.
- Material Handling: Selecting and handling materials, loading them into machines, and securing them for machining processes.
- Quality Control: Inspecting finished parts to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects, evaluate finished machined products and perform quality checks on products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintenance and Repair: Performing routine maintenance on machines and tools, as well as troubleshooting and making minor repairs when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintaining and keeping records of approved, defective units or final products, machining processes, measurements, and any issues encountered during machining operations.
Environment, Health and Safety responsibilities;
- Adhere to safety policies and work instructions.
- Report and participate in the investigation of incidents and accidents that occur at the work place.
- Identify any hazards that are likely to occur in the course of work and report to your supervisor.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Minimum Requirements:
- Certificate in Machining and fitting trade
- Completion of a vocational training or apprenticeship in Machining/DIT is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience from a reputable company or workshop setting
