We are seeking suitable candidates to fill the following position:

Job Title: IT OFFICER

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Supervises: IT Assistant

Job purpose:  The Job holder is responsible for overseeing the company’s information technology strategy, ensuring that all systems and infrastructure support the organization’s objectives. This role involves managing a team of IT professionals, developing and implementing IT policies and procedures, and providing technical leadership to support the company’s growth and efficiency.

Specific Tasks:

IT Strategy and Planning:  

  • Develop and implement the company’s IT strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies that will improve efficiency, security, and overall IT performance.
  • Plan and execute technology initiatives to support business operations.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee and document the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, end user machines, networks, servers, and virtualization environments.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of IT infrastructure through regular audits and updates.
  • Gather and maintain accurate IT asset inventories.
  • Manage the collection and storage of IT data in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of collected data.
  • Support any consultants and auditors that may be brought on board as required by management.
  • Maintain and review the User Access of Information Systems being used by all employees.
  • Continuously review and maintain the security measures implemented to protect Information Assets like firewalls and remote access.
  •  Perform regular business continuity measures like backups and restore tests for all information assets.
  • Conduct disaster recovery drills, report and update the disaster recovery plans accordingly.
  • Maintain the change management tracker for physical and logical systems being used.
  • Support other departments in relation to Information Systems being used e.g. uploading biometric information to the attendance system.
  • Support and manage the Information Systems and ERPs being used by the company.
  • Sensitize and train all IT users on how to use   and protect all IT facilities both hardware and software.

Policy and Procedure Development:

  • Establish and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure IT policies align with business needs.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, supervise and maintain contracts or service level agreements with vendors for IT products and services.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the IT team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members for professional development.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and set goals for continuous improvement.
  • Continuously update and communicate the Job Descriptions for subordinates.
  • Participate in the recruitment process of subordinates. Reporting:
  • Continuously create and report major incidents, activities, statuses of the Information Assets to the IT Steering Committee
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or their equivalent. Familiar with SAP business one accounting system. Minimum 5 years working experience in IT department in a busy organization.   Must have good analytical and reporting skills, ability to work under minimum supervision, team work & high level of integrity, flexibility in regarding systems support for end users, good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities and commitment to staying current with IT trends and best practices.
